About Me

This blog is an experiment. I use it to figure out what I think about things. It can be chaotic and messy and it doesn’t know which direction it is headed, much like its author.

Hi just stumbled on your blog somehow and I’ve already signed up for emails. I’m a serial expat too and I’m also about to move abroad. I did 10 years in the UK and Oman was my number 1 choice but I didn’t work out this time instead I’m heading next door to you guys to Saudi Arabia. I’m looking forward to your posts on Oman. From what I’ve read we have a very similar view of the expat life so I’ll live my Oman dream through you.

Thanks, Jameel. I had a peek at yours this morning and it’s great too! My boyfriend just did a year in Saudi teaching English. What part are you going to? I am looking forward to reading about what you get up to 🙂

Interesting blog and story. I also like to slow down to smell the roses and since I’ve been lucky enough to get laid off and retire early, that’s what I’ve been doing until my wife stops working and we move to Asia next year. I love looking at all the urban wildlife on the trails or following the path of a bunch of wild turkeys in the hills or even juts checking out some flowers. I hate the fast paced insanity of today’s world although I enjoy using the technology at an age where I can use it but not be ruled by it like today’s kids. Our blog is http://www.experimentalexpats.com; hope you give it a look

Hi Rob, I am really looking forward to hearing about your move and live in Malaysia! Our dream is to move there or nearby in the next few years and start a hotel/scuba dive shop so we might be neighbours!
I agree about technology. It is a tricky beast in that it frees up time for other things we love (like meeting new friends online), but also creates an ongoing list of things we “have” to be doing. It’s a big area I’d like to try to address on this site so I’m glad to hear your thoughts on it.
Thanks so much for commenting. I am really looking forward to seeing what you get up to 🙂

        Hi
Glad to comment; I wish I had more engagement on my site but as an old fart of 49, I don’t do all the 18 other social media sites like the kids do except Facebook. Tried Bloglovin and it was useless and frustrating; my images don;t come out and I got in a pissing match between WP support and their support about why they don;t appear. So I gave up on that. Life is too short.
Thanks so much for the comments and the follow

Good call to stop trying if it wasn’t working. I know a lot of blogs that are very successful because they don’t spread themselves thinly across all the places they “should” be in social media. They find the ones that suit their content best and get good at those. It sounds like you are on the right track already 🙂
